Active Financial Consulting

A straightforward process

A clearer way to find the right financial support

AFC gives you one place to begin when you know the outcome you want, but not necessarily which kind of professional you need.

How AFC works

A clearer way to find financial support

You do not need to know the name of the service or specialist you need. Start with your situation and we will help clarify the direction.

  1. 01

Tell us what you want to achieve

Start with a straightforward conversation about your priorities, circumstances and the type of support you are looking for.

  2. 02

    We identify the right direction

AFC considers which category of financial specialist or service provider may be appropriate for your needs.

  3. 03

    Meet the right professional

We make an introduction so you can explore your options and determine whether the provider is right for you.

What to expect

The first conversation is for orientation

You can begin with a plain-language description of what matters. The process should help turn that starting point into a more useful brief.

  1. 01

    Your initial enquiry

Share the broad goal, what prompted you to act and when you hope to move forward. You can include more than one priority, and you do not need to diagnose the service you require.

  2. 02

    A clarifying conversation

An AFC team member can talk through the outcome you are seeking, relevant circumstances and any professionals already involved. The purpose is to make the enquiry clearer, not to give personal advice through the intake process.

  3. 03

    A possible introduction

Where appropriate, AFC may facilitate an introduction to a third-party professional or financial-services organisation. That provider then explains its own service, authorisations, costs and next steps.

Useful at the start

Keep the first enquiry broad and practical

Enough context to understand your direction is useful. Detailed records can wait until a relevant provider explains what it needs and how to supply it securely.

  • The financial goal or decision you want to explore
  • What has changed or prompted the enquiry
  • Your general timing and level of urgency
  • Whether another professional is already involved
  • Your contact details and preferred way to be contacted

Do not send through the website

Sensitive financial data is not needed for an initial enquiry

Do not place confidential records or security credentials in the general enquiry form, email message or free-text fields.

  • Tax file numbers or identity documents
  • Banking passwords, PINs or access codes
  • Full bank, card or loan account numbers
  • Superannuation member numbers
  • Exact asset, investment or bank balances

Clear responsibilities

An introduction is a starting point, not a decision made for you

AFC, the third-party provider and you each have a different part in the process. Keeping those roles distinct makes the next step easier to assess.

AFC's role

Clarify the direction

  • Listen to the broad goal and context
  • Identify a potentially relevant provider category
  • Facilitate an introduction where appropriate

The provider's role

Explain and deliver its service

  • Confirm whether the enquiry falls within its scope
  • Explain authorisations, fees, terms and any advice
  • Request further information through an appropriate process

Your role

Decide whether it is right for you

  • Ask questions and make your own enquiries
  • Understand costs, relationships and possible conflicts
  • Choose whether or not to engage the provider

AFC helps clients identify the type of support they may require and may facilitate introductions to third-party professionals and financial-services organisations. An introduction is not personal advice, does not guarantee a particular outcome and does not require you to engage the provider.

Before you proceed

Questions you can ask after an introduction

A suitable professional relationship should be understandable before you agree to a service.

  1. 01

Does my question fall within your expertise and authorisations?

  2. 02

What service will you provide, and what will it cost?

  3. 03

Do you or AFC receive a fee or other benefit from this introduction?

  4. 04

What information will you need, and how should I provide it securely?

  5. 05

Are there limits, risks or alternatives I should understand?

  6. 06

What happens if I decide not to proceed?
